Thursday in London
I made it to London after several hours of delay but had plentyof
time. Luckily I was flying into Stansted airport. Gatwick and Heathrow
closed down for a while yesterday. My flight also made it out on time
this morning. I had booked my flights so that I would have the day in
London and leave the next morning knowing that I could sleep in the
airport if need be. I had planned on going into London or possibly
meeting with some from the team in London. If I had scheduled my
flight to Dublin for shortly after I arrived in London, it would've
been canceled and I wouldn't have left till this morning anyway. I
also would've had to wait in queues several hours long to reschedule my
flight. I met a swedish girl who had been there for two days and
couldn't get her original flight so she had to fly to a different city
and plan on getting a bus. There were also a great deal of stranded
travelers. In my little seating area there was a single Mom with two
little girls who looked exhausted. She had a couple friends with her
who helped her though but she was nearly in tears a couple times. I
think they were russian.
Policemen were patrolling all night. Several of them carried some kind
of large machine gun with flashlights on the end. We weren't allowed
to carryon any handbags or electrical items and had to take our
carryon items (only allowed money, passport, ticket ) in a clear
plastic bag.

The worst I had to deal with was the body search, which actually wasn't too invasive, at least with the guard who searched me. Everyone was searched as we passed through security. Some of the guards were more intense.

Flight, good. bus, fine. I am safe in Dublin now with a lovely house to myself for the weekend until next week when we debrief the whole eight months. Most likely it will be pretty emotional.
