Save Darfur

Hello, any who may idly wander to my blog. Yes, this is an update, but I won't tell you much about me accept that I went to Urbana last weekend and it pumped me up about missions and made me feel foolish because of my ignorance of world issues.
One of which happens to be a tragedy beyond my comprehension... the genocide in Darfur. Real people have been and are still being forced from their homes, their families, their lives, into terrible life experiences, things that you and I cringe at when we hear of it, murder, torture, rape, slavery - yet somehow we can shed a tear, shake our heads at what the world's coming to, sign an online petition and go on with our lives without much more thought. That was me, a few months ago when I first heard of it.
It seems like I can't do much about something happening halfway around the world.
But I can. I can raise awareness. I can encourage people to talk to their senators to put pressure on the president and others in power. I can donate some of what little I have. And above all else I can plead with God to have mercy on those suffering, to make himself known to them, and I can encourage others to pray. And so can you.

I am committing 5 minutes a day from this day forth to praying for Darfur. Anyone who wants to can join me.
