to have a job... yet not money.
Right, so Arod and i have been jobsearching on craigslist like its our job... sorry. But its true. We have been doing our fair share of research and emailing resumes and it looks like it paid off.
Right now, as I write, Arod is being trained to become a barback at Bar Americain.

He also has another 'tryout' tomorrow with SplashLight, the photography organization. This tryout will determine whether or not they will hire him as a photo assistant. Apparently the last tryout bored him as all he really did was put the equipment back in the closet.
So, yeah for the Provider providing.
As far as jobs go for me, I've picked up another job as well. I will begin training to walk dogs on Monday. Yeah, its not glamorous but it is good pay, so they say. I had an interview with they guy Josh yesterday, who proceeded to take me shopping with him during our interview, bought me a quite delicious vegan cookie, then took me up to his apartment so he could print out an application. While I waited he put on the film, The Invincible with Mark Wahlberg, and delivered the importance of customer service speech to the triumphant soundtrack of Vince Papale's first heroic tackle. He then gave me some gear and instructed me not to let the dogs I walk pee on anything electric including lightposts, and to not try and rescue a dog if it were to be in the process of being electricuted, because people have died...
Another moneymaking endeavor and means of enjoyment is my attempt to design t-shirts for threadless.com which will pay you 2g's if you submit a winning design. This is my latest submission

Our latest entertainment habit is viewing the Irish satire 'Father Ted' over YouTube. It happens to be hilarious. My thanks to Kieth Adams for the introduction.
Love to all,

Orange room
P.S.1 MoMa is a contemporary art museum located at 22-25 Jackson Ave at the intersection of 46th Ave in Long Island City, 11101. Without knowing that, I decided to try to find it by using my keen directional sense. I had seen it from the #7train so I figured I could find it. Not so. A good hour and a half of walking eventually brought me to it.
Before I describe it, I want you to know that Arod has been hired to be a barback/runner at Bar Americain, and will also be "tried out" at a photo assisting position. What what...
I met KJ Macha at PS1. She had pretty much toured the whole museum already and Arod joined us later. The current show at PS1 MoMa is pretty good. There was an exhibition called "Not For Sale" which included many notable artists displaying works they just couldn't part with for whatever reason. Some of the names were David Salle, Eric Fischl, Richard Tuttle, Jasper Johns, Julian Schnabel, Christo, Jennifer Bartlett, Robert Rauschenberg, Jeff Koons, etc... I was particularly drawn to Fischl's incredible painting though the subject matter was a bit disturbing.
One enjoyable exibit was "Portes Oranges" by Senam Okudzeto. A thousand oranges were placed in the room along with a number of sculptures used by orange-salesmen in Ghana to display oranges. The fragance was great, and you were actually supposed to eat the oranges! Yeah! Peels everywhere, pieces of orange everywhere, stuck to the wall. It was a tasty treat. Projected at the base of one wall Ghanan (?) orange sellers gracefully, rythmically peeled oranges and displayed them at their fruit stands.
Another wonderful exhibit was HIGH PLANE V by KATRÍN SIGURDARDÓTTIR.

In this piece, you must climb a ladder and poke your head into this odd and beautiful landscape. A great aspect of it was that there were two ladders so you and your friend could poke your heads through and gaze at each other from across the great white plain.
After museuming we three went back to Arod+me apartment and conjured up a tasty curry for dinner. Crazy Grizzly Man entertained us and good times were had by all.
Much love.

Sidewalk Cinema
Thus begins a new chapter in my life. Living in NY with Arod.

I arrived at about 8 o'clock on Saturday night. The day before involved a 12 hour drive and a brief respite in Maryland at the Howard's house. Sat. morning, Brae and I drove to Philly to hang out with Matt Allison. I chilled with them for a bit, then met Becca Shirley for late lunch, and then she dropped me at the bus (15$ from Philly to Penn Station). All in all the trip was quite pleasant.
Hanging with Arod in the city has been a good time. He's got the subway system down so I've just been following at his heels through the winding tunnels. We are in a pretty tiny apartment that we want to be out of cuz we are paying too much rent, so we're looking round. The Irish locals tell us to ask everyone we know about living space and we'll eventually get a good place.
Our neighborhood is pretty sweet. I see few white people walking around and not much English on shopsigns. We have a chinese grocery store a couple blocks away that sells fresh fruit and veggies and even fish. Papaya's are 99cents! Part of my goal here is to make Adam eat better, so I'm trying to buy cheap and healthy and make sure we eat every meal. I can't function without food but he seems to often forget about it.
One of my favorite experiences so far was last night when Arod and I ventured into a local Irish pub which happens to be even closer than the grocery store. We walked in and sat at the bar. A familiar atmosphere washed over us as we took in the old beat up room, shared a couple pints of Irish beer. My favorite part was the bartender though. She was so warm and welcoming and it surprised me how comforting it was to hear a thick irish accent. She was from Monaghan which is where a couple of friends are from. She also bought Arod and I a shot each which she called "I like you very much." We'll probably go back.
In other news, I sent a resume yesterday to a kids development program to be an instructor. They called me within minutes after I sent it. We set up an interview today. I went to the interview and it sounded like the guy didn't really like me until he had me treat him as a child as if I were teaching a 4 yr. old how to dribble. So I got the part-time job and I start tomorrow. Thanks to those who prayed for that.
Well, Arod has an important interview tomorrow, so if you pray, say one to the father for him.
Love from NY
